Hi Marianne,
My husband and I love reading your blog. The information is very helpful and interesting. We are going to apply for a retirement visa and wondered if you had any suggestions of villages north of Barcelona. If not, maybe an agent to work with to rent an apartment. We would like to be on the east side of the country, not necessarily on the ocean but close. We are coming from California and welcome any advise that would make our transition easier. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you
Hi Kris … Barcelona is about a ten hour drive from where I live, so I’m afraid I have no helpful information for you. The area I cover is to the east of Malaga city. I suggest you track down blogs centred around Barcelona as they would have good local knowledge. Good luck.
We spent six weeks in Frigiliana last winter and hope to eventually (in four years when fully retired) escape Montreal winters for three or four months a year. At that time, we hope to explore more of beautiful Andalucia. I am so grateful for your blog as it gives us such a wonderful insight into all of the beautiful places and experiences that await us there.
How wonderful that you got to spend a good amount of time in Frigiliana. When we first moved to Spain we rented a house for a year in Frigiliana before we bought our current home – so I know how much you must have enjoyed your stay. Thanks for your kind words. It’s those kind of comments that make it all worth while. 🙂
