Atocha railway station, Madrid
Today is the 10th anniversary of the bombing of Atocha railway station in Madrid, when packed commuter trains arriving in Spain’s capital city were bombed in a series of co-ordinated explosions, killing 192 people and wounding more than 1,800.
The European Union has devoted 11th March to remembering all victims of terrorist attacks in Europe and elsewhere in the world.
Sadly, terrorism can strike anywhere and at any time, but I’d like to take this opportunity to express my sympathy and solidarity with all victims of terrorism throughout the world, their families and friends and to condemn all terrorist acts.
